Stupid People Employing Stupid People and Statistics
Why do idiot managers, employ really stupid people who just do stupid shit to the customers?
For instance, in this typically "general situation" - Say there was a huge warehouse type building - and there was a fire in it, far, far away, in the far corner.....
At 10am on a bright sunny morning, one sees this and runs into the reception, and says, to the reception person, "The back end of the building is on fire can you call the fire brigade?"
They reply, "Oh I can't do that. I will have to talk to my supervisor. They are in a meeting in the moment, and that doesn't finish until 2pm. Can you come back and speak to them about it then?"
(puts face on desk and groans)
There are so many people who just don't "get it" - from people making sales, who never ever even read the packets of the products they are selling......
OK so I want to buy a stereo with a USB port, so I can play recordings on a USB stick.
The packet has an inadequate description and pictures. There is no clear view of the front, the back or the connections areas and the technical details only lists that it has multiple inputs.
So I ask them, "Does this stereo - in this box with the inadequate description, and pictures, and technical details, play MP3's from a USB stick?"
The answer is "Oh I don't know?"
Well why in the fuck not? - it's your job and every time I get an idiot "moving boxes" instead of making sales, I short list the place as a least to less preferential business to transact with.
Chances are if you have an idiot on the front line, then you have an idiot in the management, condoning mental deficiency and the lack of wherewithall.
For instance, one day I went into Big W, and as I tend to wear clothes from the best dressed, to the workshop, and then to the "ready for ragging" stage, my shopping trips for clothing are few and far between.
A big shop up, every 5 or 6 years seems to suffice... and I occassionally forget my sizes, or I fail to check them.
So I walk into the Mens Dept, and the only person to serve me is a 16yo, stuffing socks into a tray....
I ask her, "I need to check my sizes, do you have a tape measure?"
She replies, "What's that?"
An older woman, working there, who I had to chase up, just looks me up and down says, "Hmm a size XYZ, here try these on."
So back to the 16yo, to put someone into the clothing dept, without even making sure they KNOW what to do, HOW to do it, and WHAT to do it with, is a piss poor reflection on the managers.....
I am sure that there are so many people who have had just incredibly shit service from people who can be described as "The lights are on and no one is home."
And the only people who employ these people, and or fail to assess and train them, are people who are stupid themselves...
