Got a bit tired of the bottom dollar Power Supply Units going tits up and occasionally taking the mother board with them...

So I went and bought an Antec PSU - because they said they were quality and they came with a 5 year warranty.

Neo HE and TruePower Trio power supplies will get upgraded to a five year warranty, up from the previous three year warranty. The five year warranty is effective from the date of purchase and covers parts and labor. Users that purchase Antec Neo HE or TruePower Trio products before the announcement will be covered by the five year warranty too. Antec Neo HE products include a variety of power supplies in 380, 430, 500 and 550 watt capacities. Neo HE 500 and 550 watt power supplies are also SLI-Ready. TruePower Trio power supplies include units with 430, 550 and 650 watt capacities with the 550 and 650 watt models SLI-Ready.

Applicable to Antec's Neo HE and TruePower Trio PSUs, they've just issued out an announcement which makes light of a now extended 5 year warranty slapped on'em for extra peace of mind. 





Picked up the new power supply about 2 or 3 months after the Jan 11 Floods in Victoria.

Chaos reigned....

And anyway - the unit would from time to time, make faint crackling noises which I assumed was a wee bit of high frequency power leaking out of the internals...

And then one day it just stopped working - about 4 or 5 months ago.

Finally got around to the warranty issues and they went like this.

I have one of the Lenovo G570 Laptops. And this is really BAD. The first one is that the management of Lenovo have done a deal with Microsoft to install an Operating System on the hard drive, and they claim that allocating a "special area" of the hard drive for recovery purposes, is a solution in case of "some kind of OS / Hard Drive problem - but they do not give you a copy of the OS on a DVD, to reinstall it, in case the OS crashed or a new HDD was needed etc.... This means that IF your operating system corrupts, your going to be facing a HUGE and BAD uphill battle to get a copy of YOUR operating system from Lenovo. No doing on the spot brain surgery on your own lap top by reinstalling the OS... No. This comes down to you not getting a 20c DVD with your operating system on it, Vs. hours fighting with idiots on the phone and days and or weeks waiting around for the DVD to arrive - if ever.
